The River Chet, tributary of the Yare, is navigable for river craft as far as Loddon Staithe. Where wooden sailing wherries used to carry their cargoes to the Mill, now mostly leisure and pleasure boats bring water-borne visitors to Loddon, or take them from the boatyards on the river bank and the Chet Basin to other parts of the Norfolk rivers and Broads. |

Ducks, swans, heron, together with anglers, assorted craft and occasional artists are all part of the scene in this picturesque part of Loddon.
An information board shows photographs of the area in bygone days.
