Loddon & District Local History Group
Background
The Local History Group was formed in June 2001 to try and share the 'Before Your Time' historical material with a wider local audience.
At present a 'hard core' of half a dozen people from Loddon and the surrounding villages meet in the back room of The Hollies at 1.30 pm on the 3rd Wednesday afternoon of each month.
We are joined on occasions by up to twenty others with a special interest in the topic under discussion.
We have, amongst other things, heard a very enthusiastic 'Documentary Historian' telling us how to discover the history of old houses and have visited Hales Hall, our local Tudor Manor House
We do not have a membership list - anyone who is interested in our topic can join us, we provide a cup of tea too, and ask only for a donation of £2 to our funds.
It is hoped that the ideas for future speakers and topics will come from our 'members' and that many more will come to share our passion.
